Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and if you’re like most people, you still don’t have all of your details ironed out for the holiday yet. Don’t worry! Here’s 5 tips for Thanksgiving entertaining:
Make your home smell great
First things first – there’s just something about the smell of the holidays that brings up so much nostalgia. Smelling last week’s dirty laundry and your cat’s litter box just doesn’t work for entertaining. I love to use Simmer Potpourri to freshen up my house before guests come over – I bet you already have most of this on hand and can just put them in a pot quickly before people come over!
I also die over candles, and this West Elm sage leaf candle is such a hearty holiday scent:
Add some metallics to your décor:
Metallics are big this year. Silver or gold – it doesn’t matter! I personally love mixing them. I got these amazing napkins from West Elm that have the perfect silver sheen to them:
Oh Happy Day made the cutest metallic leaves for her table – I love this idea!
Or you could make little metallic pumpkins like these for place cards (from Wedding by Color)
I added a metallic touch with a mirror I found at a thrift store. I added some “berries” (clearance last year at a craft store) and candles. SO EASY!
Or you can freshen up your table décor with these modern salt & pepper shakers from West Elm:
Step away from traditional colors
There’s something refreshing about stepping away from the traditional browns, orange, and yellow. I love the soft neutrals used in this tablescape:
Going back to the metallics – I love gold & black this year! How perfect does this look – paired with wood it’s so perfect!
Apparently Destiny from A Place For Us loved black and gold too – look at this inspiration board she made – isn’t it just perfect??
Add some mixed prints:
Mixing prints isn’t just a big fashion trend right now, but it’s also so great when you can mix prints in home décor! Add a little spice to your Thanksgiving table with these amazing mixed print bowls from West Elm – I am in LOVE with mine! Remember – they don’t have to be traditional “Thanksgiving colors” – just get something you like, and then you can get use out of them year-round!
Make a new drink
Yes, pumpkin and apple pies are still the classic desserts and should not be forgotten. BUT spice things up a little bit with a new drink recipe this year – like these adults only Bourbon Pumpkin Pie Milkshakes:
Or this refreshing looking Apple Cider Sangria:
If you’re staying away from the alcohol, or if you need a drink that is totally kid-friendly too, you NEED to try this White hot chocolate with caramel & toffee:
West Elm is offering 20% off of all tabletop décor until November 26th – so make sure you head over to their site so you can freshen up your Thanksgiving décor in time for company!
